3-5 Years (Staff:Child Ratio 1:8)
During the children’s time in the exciting and colourful pre-school room we will offer them a choice of many different areas to play from mark making, messy play, an ever-changing role play area, home corner or just a chance to sit and relax in our comfy story corner with a selection of books.
Our staff have tailored a curriculum to suit the children’s interests based around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This is taught through our adult and child-led learning. Each week we have a weekly theme which allows the children to stimulate their imagination with a range of daily activities.
The children choose their own learning during our free flow play sessions. There is a creative area where the children are able to use a range of different resources where they can allow their creativity to flourish in order to develop their ideas and express themselves. In our small world area we have a range of animals, dinosaurs, people and natural objects to allow the children to create their own stories. We have a reading corner where the children can enjoy a variety of books to develop their communication and language skills. Our role play area changes based on the children's interests and allows them to engage in pretend play with their peers. We aim to develop the children's literacy and numeracy skills providing them with exciting activities to engage their interest in early mark making and number.
The garden has an outdoor classroom and a large grass area where children can use their imagination to play with their friends and develop their gross motor skills using the different outdoor equipment available.
Each child is assigned a key person who will get to know your child and their family and support your child on their learning journey. We will help your child learn the skills they need to have a successful start to school. We also work in partnership with the local school teachers to come and meet your child in a familiar environment and assist in the transition in every way possible to ensure they are ready for school life.
